Literature Text

On this winter solstice,
We seek our solace.
As the wolves hunted,
We were vigilant.
As the elk grazed,
So we gathered and toiled.

So marks the time that Father,
Returneth to the earth.
In slumber, his child waits,
Mother looking to birth.

In their wake,
We have traveled and worked.
We had a year of trials,
Seasons of hardship,
And many memories by the lake of Time.

Now with him gone, we wait.
We forage and we slumber.
It is a time that nature gathers what it musters,
Times of freely giving and companionship.
The work has been a great weight.

In this time of Yule,
We look to brothers and sisters,
And find no enemy among them.
To the chill of winter,
We are all as splinters of the mighty oak.

I pray we survive and leave seeds,
The dreams and trials of a new year,
As we leave this one behind,
And remember our deeds.

May the Divine ever find us in their favor,
As we wait for the new year.
Blessed be.
